Ashtavakra Gita 10.5

10.5 Ashtavakra to Janaka

You are one, conscious and pure; the world is inert and unreal. Ignorance too is nothing at all. Even so, what is it you still wish to know?

Meaning today and context

There comes a point where endless seeking and reading becomes another form of restlessness. The verse invites you to stop hunting and rest in what you already are.

Ashtavakra teaches tranquillity (upaśama): you alone are conscious and pure, the world is inert and unreal, and ignorance too is nothing; so what is left to seek to know?
