nāpnoti karmaṇā mokṣaṃ vimūḍho'bhyāsarūpiṇā | dhanyo vijñānamātreṇa muktastiṣṭhatyavikriyaḥ ||
The deluded one does not reach liberation through action in the form of repeated practice. The fortunate one, by understanding alone, stands free and unchanged.
The verse speaks of the goal, not against useful practice; meditation, therapy or treatment that helps someone should not be dropped because of it.

Repetition alone does not produce insight. What matters is actually seeing, and that can happen in a moment.
Ashtavakra teaches Janaka in the final chapter on peace (shanti): he says the deluded one does not gain liberation through action in the form of practice; the blessed one, by understanding alone, stands free and unchanging.
