Ashtavakra Gita 2.11

2.11 Janaka to Ashtavakra

aho ahaṃ namo mahyaṃ, vināśo yasya nāsti me | brahmādistambaparyantaṃ jagannāśe'pi tiṣṭhataḥ ||

Oh, wonderful am I! Salutations to myself, who know no destruction, who remain even when the world, from Brahma down to a blade of grass, is destroyed.

If you are thinking about death or feeling hopeless, please talk to someone now: Tele-MANAS 14416. The verse is about the Self, not an invitation to die.

Meaning today and context

This is not ego talking but wonder at what does not die in us. Fear of loss and death is softened by sensing something in yourself that no ending touches.

Janaka, newly awakened by Ashtavakra's teaching, bursts into self-praise, but it is praise of the deathless Self, which remains even when the whole world, from Brahma to a blade of grass, perishes.
