Ashtavakra Gita 2.25

2.25 Janaka to Ashtavakra

mayyanantamahāmbhodhāvāścaryaṃ jīvavīcayaḥ | udyanti ghnanti khelanti praviśanti svabhāvataḥ ||

In me, the boundless ocean, wondrously the waves of individual beings rise, strike one another, play, and sink back, by their own nature.

Meaning today and context

Lives rise, clash, play and pass like waves, and the ocean is untroubled by it all. Seeing life this way can make conflict and change feel less threatening and more like play.

Janaka, newly awakened by Ashtavakra's teaching, closes his song of wonder: in him, the boundless ocean, the waves of individual beings rise, collide, play and vanish of their own nature.
