Ashtavakra Gita 2.3

2.3 Janaka to Ashtavakra

saśarīramaho viśvaṃ parityajya mayādhunā | kutaścitkauśalādeva paramātmā vilokyate ||

Oh! Having now given up the universe along with the body, by some skill indeed the Supreme Self is seen by me.

Renouncing the world here is inner; it is not advice to abandon family, work or responsibilities.

Meaning today and context

When we stop holding on to everything we identify with, something deeper becomes visible. The 'giving up' here is a letting go in understanding, not walking away from life.

Janaka, newly awakened by Ashtavakra's teaching, says that having let go of the world along with the body, he now sees the Supreme Self through some rare skill, the guru's teaching.
