Avadhuta Gita 2.9

2.9 Dattatreya

kaṭutvaṃ caiva śaityatvaṃ mṛdutvaṃ ca yathā jale | prakṛtiḥ puruṣastadvadabhinnaṃ pratibhāti me ||

Just as bitterness, coolness and softness all belong to water, so prakṛti (nature) and puruṣa (spirit) appear to me as undivided.

Meaning today and context

The split between 'me in here' and 'the world out there' is not as hard as it feels. Seeing one nature in both can soften the sense of being at war with life.

Completing the simile from 2.8: as one water appears bitter, cool or soft in different things, so matter and spirit appear to him as not different.
