Avadhuta Gita 3.26

3.26 Dattatreya

niṣkarmakarmaparamaṃ satataṃ karomi niḥsaṅgasaṅgarahitaṃ paramaṃ vinodam | nirdehadeharahitaṃ satataṃ vinodaṃ jñānāmṛtaṃ samarasaṃ gaganopamo'ham ||

I ceaselessly do the highest action, which is no action; a supreme play, free of attachment and non-attachment; a ceaseless delight, free of body and bodilessness. I am the nectar of knowledge, the same throughout, like the sky.

Meaning today and context

Acting without the heavy sense of 'I am the doer' turns work into something closer to play. It is not about doing less, but doing without the inner grip.

Dattatreya describes his life: constant action that is non-action, and a play free of attachment and of body-identity.
