Avadhuta Gita 3.40

3.40 Dattatreya

no vāṇumātramapi te hi virāgarūpaṃ no vāṇumātramapi te hi sarāgarūpam | no vāṇumātramapi te hi sakāmarūpaṃ jñānāmṛtaṃ samarasaṃ gaganopamo'ham ||

Not even an atom of dispassion is your form; not even an atom of passion is your form; not even an atom of desire is your form. I am the nectar of knowledge, the same throughout, like the sky.

Meaning today and context

You are neither your cravings nor your efforts at renunciation. Both are states of mind; you need not build an identity on either.

Dattatreya says not an atom of dispassion, passion or desire is the listener's true form.
