What I have told you is the essence of all: there is no you, no me, no great ones, no guru, no disciple. The supreme reality is free and natural in form. I am the nectar of knowledge, the same throughout, like the sky.
Respect for teachers still matters; and no genuine teacher demands money, obedience or secrecy in the name of 'no guru'.
Meaning today and context
In the end, the teacher's aim is to leave no gap between teacher and student. A true guru points you to yourself rather than binding you to him.
Dattatreya sums up the chapter's essence: there is no you, no me, no great ones, no guru, no disciple; reality is free and natural.
