Avadhuta Gita 5.20

5.20 Dattatreya

yadi varṇavivarṇavihīnasamaṃ yadi kāraṇakāryavihīnasamam | yadibhedavibhedavihīnasamaṃ kimu rodiṣi mānasi sarvasamam ||

If it is the same, free of colour and no colour; if it is the same, free of cause and effect; if it is the same, free of difference and non-difference, why do you weep, O mind? All is one and the same.

Meaning today and context

Varna, colour or class, does not touch the Self. No label of birth, skin or group defines what a person truly is.

In chapter 5, Dattatreya speaks to his own mind with the refrain 'why do you weep?'; he says reality is the same, free of colour and colourlessness, cause and effect, difference and non-difference.
