There is no thinking of different and not different, nor of the meeting of outer and inner. Free of enemy and friend, the same in all, why do you weep, O mind? All is one and the same.
Meaning today and context
Hurt from enemies and disappointment in friends both rest on seeing others as separate. Seeing the one in all can soften both, though it does not mean ignoring real harm.
In chapter 5, Dattatreya speaks to his own mind with the refrain 'why do you weep?'; he says there is no thinking of different and same, outer and inner, enemy and friend.
