Death and deathlessness are set aside; doing and not doing are set aside. If all is one, unbroken, wholly Shiva (the auspicious), how can anyone speak of going and coming?

Meaning today and context
The Self does not come into the world or leave it; only forms come and go. For someone afraid of death, this can be a quiet reassurance about what we most truly are.
In chapter 6 of the Avadhuta Gita, Dattatreya repeats the refrain 'if all is one, unbroken, wholly Shiva', and asks how any distinction could then stand; here, how anyone could speak of going and coming, of death and rebirth.
