14.1 Krishna to Arjuna

paraṃ bhūyaḥ pravakṣyāmi jñānānāṃ jñānamuttamam | yajjñātvā munayaḥ sarve parāṃ siddhimito gatāḥ ||

The Blessed Lord said: I will declare again the supreme knowledge, the highest of all knowledge, knowing which all the sages have gone from here to the highest perfection.

Meaning today and context

Not all knowledge is equal. Some knowledge helps us earn and manage; some changes how we see ourselves. Krishna points to the second kind.

Krishna opens chapter 14 by promising Arjuna the highest knowledge, knowing which the sages reached the supreme perfection.
