Bhagavad Gita 14.13

14.13 Krishna to Arjuna

aprakāśo'pravṛttiśca pramādo moha eva ca | tamasyetāni jāyante vivṛddhe kurunandana ||

Darkness, inertia, heedlessness and delusion: these arise when tamas increases, joy of the Kurus.

Meaning today and context

Fog in the mind, not wanting to move, neglecting what matters, confusion: recognising these as a state that has grown, not your fixed nature, opens the way to small steps out.

Krishna lists the signs of rising tamas: darkness, inertia, heedlessness and delusion.
