Bhagavad Gita 14.19

14.19 Krishna to Arjuna

nānyaṃ guṇebhyaḥ kartāraṃ yadā draṣṭānupaśyati | guṇebhyaśca paraṃ vetti madbhāvaṃ so'dhigacchati ||

When the seer beholds no doer other than the guṇas, and knows that which is beyond the guṇas, he attains my being.

Seeing the guṇas as the doer is not an excuse to disown responsibility for one's actions.

Meaning today and context

Moods, impulses and habits run on their own patterns. Watching them as a witness, rather than saying 'this is me', loosens their grip.

Krishna says that when the seer sees no doer other than the guṇas and knows what is beyond them, he attains Krishna's being.
