Bhagavad Gita 14.6

14.6 Krishna to Arjuna

tatra sattvaṃ nirmalatvātprakāśakamanāmayam | sukhasaṅgena badhnāti jñānasaṅgena cānagha ||

Of these, sattva, being stainless, is illuminating and free from affliction. It binds, sinless one, by attachment to happiness and attachment to knowledge.

Meaning today and context

Even good things can become a trap: needing to feel peaceful, or being proud of what we know. A calm, clear mind is valuable, but clinging to it is still clinging.

Krishna explains that sattva, being pure, is luminous and free of affliction, yet it too binds through attachment to happiness and to knowledge.
