Bhagavad Gita 14.7

14.7 Krishna to Arjuna

rajo rāgātmakaṃ viddhi tṛṣṇāsaṅgasamudbhavam | tannibadhnāti kaunteya karmasaṅgena dehinam ||

Know rajas to be of the nature of passion, arising from craving and attachment. It binds the embodied one, son of Kunti, through attachment to action.

Meaning today and context

The urge to keep doing, chasing and achieving can come from craving rather than purpose. When busyness becomes compulsive, it binds us and can lead to burnout.

Krishna describes rajas: its nature is passion, it arises from craving and attachment, and it binds through attachment to action.
