Bhagavad Gita 15.16

15.16 Krishna to Arjuna

dvāvimau puruṣau loke kṣaraścākṣara eva ca | kṣaraḥ sarvāṇi bhūtāni kūṭastho'kṣara ucyate ||

There are two persons in this world, the perishable and the imperishable. The perishable is all beings; the unchanging one is called the imperishable.

Meaning today and context

Everything we can see and hold changes and passes, yet something underlies the change. Telling the passing from the lasting helps us hold life more lightly.

Krishna begins his teaching on the two 'persons': the perishable and the imperishable.
