Bhagavad Gita 16.15

16.15 Krishna to Arjuna

āḍhyo'bhijanavānasmi ko'nyo'sti sadṛśo mayā | yakṣye dāsyāmi modiṣya ityajñānavimohitāḥ ||

'I am rich and of high birth; who else is like me? I will sacrifice, I will give, I will rejoice.' So they are deluded by ignorance;

'मैं धनवान हूँ, ऊँचे कुल का हूँ; मेरे जैसा और कौन है? मैं यज्ञ करूँगा, दान दूँगा, मौज करूँगा।' इस प्रकार वे अज्ञान से मोहित रहते हैं;

The verse criticises pride in birth; it does not endorse ranking people by birth or caste.

Meaning today and context

Even good acts like charity can become a way to show off and compete. Pride in money or family background is a trap that blinds us.

Krishna continues: the deluded boast of wealth and lineage and plan to sacrifice and give only for show and pleasure.
