18.20 Krishna to Arjuna

sarvabhūteṣu yenaikaṃ bhāvamavyayamīkṣate | avibhaktaṃ vibhakteṣu tajjñānaṃ viddhi sāttvikam ||

That knowledge by which one sees one imperishable being in all beings, undivided among the divided, know that knowledge to be sattvic.

Meaning today and context

Clear seeing finds the common ground in everyone beneath differences of status, religion, looks or opinion. That vision makes respect and compassion natural.

Krishna defines sattvic knowledge: the knowledge by which one sees one imperishable reality in all beings, undivided in the divided.
