Bhagavad Gita 18.31

18.31 Krishna to Arjuna

yayā dharmamadharmaṃ ca kāryaṃ cākāryameva ca | ayathāvatprajānāti buddhiḥ sā pārtha rājasī ||

The understanding by which one knows wrongly dharma and adharma, what should be done and what should not: that understanding, Partha, is rajasic.

Meaning today and context

When desire and hurry drive us, our sense of right and wrong blurs. We know roughly, but not clearly, and that half-clarity leads to mistakes we later regret.

Krishna defines rajasic understanding: one that grasps right and wrong, what should and should not be done, only imperfectly.
