7.11 Krishna to Arjuna

balaṃ balavatāṃ cāhaṃ kāmarāgavivarjitam | dharmāviruddho bhūteṣu kāmo'smi bharatarṣabha ||

I am the strength of the strong, free of desire and passion. In beings, I am desire that is not against dharma, best of the Bharatas.

Meaning today and context

Desire and strength are not bad in themselves. Strength used without greed, and wants that stay within what is right, are themselves sacred.

Krishna says he is strength free of craving, and desire that does not go against dharma.
