Bhagavad Gita 7.23

7.23 Krishna to Arjuna

antavattu phalaṃ teṣāṃ tadbhavatyalpamedhasām | devāndevayajo yānti madbhaktā yānti māmapi ||

But the fruit gained by those of small understanding is finite. Worshippers of the gods go to the gods; my devotees come to me.

Meaning today and context

What we seek shapes what we find. Rewards that come and go cannot give lasting peace; only a deeper aim can.

Krishna says the fruit gained by those of little understanding is finite; worshippers of gods go to the gods, his devotees come to him.
