Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 3.7.22

3.7.22 Yajnavalkya to Uddalaka Aruni

yo vijñāne tiṣṭhanvijñānādantaro yaṃ vijñānaṃ na veda yasya vijñānaṃ śarīraṃ yo vijñānamantaro yamayatyeṣa ta ātmāntaryāmyamṛtaḥ ||

He who dwells in understanding yet is other than understanding, whom understanding does not know, whose body understanding is, who controls understanding from within: he is your self, the inner controller, the immortal.

Meaning today and context

Even your intelligence, the part that knows and judges, does not know what lies behind it. Knowledge of the self is not one more thing the intellect collects.

Brihadaranyaka 3.7.22. Yajnavalkya continues for Uddalaka Aruni: the inner controller in understanding (vijnana), the knowing intellect.
