She said: 'Yajnavalkya, as a hero's son from Kashi or Videha strings his unstrung bow, takes in his hand two arrows that pierce the enemy, and rises to face him, so I have risen to face you with two questions. Answer them for me.' 'Ask, Gargi.'
Meaning today and context
Gargi questions with courage and precision, like an archer choosing two arrows. Asking hard questions openly, even of the most respected person in the room, is part of the search for truth, not disrespect.
Brihadaranyaka 3.8.2. Gargi addresses Yajnavalkya with a warrior's image for her two questions; he replies 'Ask, Gargi.' The unit is almost wholly hers.
