'Now they say: since this one who blows is just one, how is he one and a half?' 'Because in him all this grew greater (adhyardhnot); that is why he is one and a half.' 'Which is the one god?' 'Breath. He is Brahman; they call him "That".'

Meaning today and context

All the gods, counted down, come to one: the life-breath, which is Brahman. The divine is not far away in the many; it is the one life moving in everything that lives.

Brihadaranyaka 3.9.9. Yajnavalkya explains the 'one and a half' to Shakalya and names the one god: breath, which is Brahman.
