4.4.20 Yajnavalkya to Janaka

ekadhaivānudraṣṭavyametadapramayaṃ dhruvam | virajaḥ para ākāśādaja ātmā mahāndhruvaḥ ||

As one only is this to be seen, this immeasurable, constant one: spotless, beyond space, the unborn self, great and constant.

Meaning today and context

Under all our changing moods and roles is something unchanging and unstained. Resting there gives steadiness that circumstances cannot take away.

Brihadaranyaka 4.4.20. A verse: the self is to be seen as one, immeasurable, constant, unborn and beyond space.
