As the ocean is the one meeting point of all waters, so the skin is the one meeting point of all touches, the nostrils of all smells, the tongue of all tastes, the eye of all forms, the ear of all sounds, the mind of all intentions, the heart of all knowledge, the hands of all actions, the sexual organ of all pleasures, the anus of all excretions, the feet of all journeys, and speech of all the Vedas.

Every stream of experience flows into a centre. The image invites us to follow them back to the deepest centre of all.
Brihadaranyaka 4.5.12. Yajnavalkya tells Maitreyi how each kind of experience has its one meeting point, as all waters meet in the ocean.
