aputrasya gṛhaṃ śūnyaṃ diśaḥ śūnyāstvabāṃdhavāḥ | mūrkhasya hṛdayaṃ śūnyaṃ sarvaśūnyā daridratā ||
The house of one without a son is empty; for one without relatives every direction is empty; the heart of a fool is empty; but for the poor, everything is empty.

This reflects its time's preference for sons. A home with daughters, or without children, is never 'empty', and childlessness or poverty is no reason for shame. If poverty or loneliness feels unbearable, please talk to someone: Tele-MANAS 14416.
