7.11 Chanakya

bāhuvīryaṃ balaṃ rājño brāhmaṇo brahmavitbalī | rūpa-yauvana-mādhuryaṃ strīṇāṃ balamanuttamam ||

Strength of arm is the strength of a king; the brahmin who knows Brahman is strong; beauty, youth and sweetness are the unsurpassed strength of women.

This verse reflects the prejudices of its time and is not the view of this app. It must never be used to demean, distrust, judge or control women. Brahmin here should be read as one who knows, by learning and conduct, not by birth.

The point that different roles draw on different strengths still holds. But reducing a woman's strength to looks and youth is a view of its time, not a truth.
