It placed a blade of grass before him: 'Burn this.' He went at it with all his speed but could not burn it. He turned back from there: 'I could not find out what this wondrous being is.'

Meaning today and context

The fire that could burn the world cannot burn a blade of grass on its own. Our abilities are real, but they are not self-made; they rest on a power we did not create.

The Yakṣa sets down a single blade of grass; Agni cannot burn it and returns to the gods defeated.
