1.48 Narada

yaḥ karmmaphalaṃ tyajati karmmāṇi saṃnyasyati tato nirdvandvo bhavati ||

One who gives up the fruit of action, who renounces actions [to God], and so becomes free of the pairs of opposites.

Renouncing actions here means offering them to God, not giving up one's work or duties.

Meaning today and context

When we stop measuring each act by what it gets us, praise and blame, gain and loss lose their power to swing us about. We still act; we just stop living at the mercy of outcomes.

The answer continues: giving up the fruits of action and offering actions themselves, one goes beyond the pairs of opposites.
