vahati bhuvana-śreṇiṃ śeṣaḥ phaṇāphalaka-sthitāṃ | kamaṭha-patinā madhye-pṛṣṭhaṃ sadā sa ca dhāryate | tamapi kurute kroḍādhīnaṃ payodhiranādarād | ahaha mahatāṃ niḥsīmānaścaritra-vibhūtayaḥ ||
Shesha carries the rows of worlds resting on the broad plates of his hoods; he in turn is always borne on the middle of the back of the king of tortoises; and the ocean, without a thought, holds even that tortoise in its lap. Ah, boundless are the glories of the conduct of the great!
