sa eṣa vaiśvānaro viśvarūpaḥ prāṇo'gnirudayate | tadetaddṛcābhyuktam ||

"This is Vaiśvānara, the fire common to all, taking every form; it is life (prāṇa) and fire that rises. This has been said in a verse:"

Meaning today and context

The same warmth that is in the sun is in our bodies as digestion and life. The Upanishad sees no wall between the fire in the sky and the fire within.

Pippalāda names the rising sun as Vaiśvānara, the universal fire and life, and introduces a Ṛg-Vedic verse that follows.
