Prashna Upanishad 2.5

2.5 Pippalada to Bhargava Vaidarbhi

eṣo'gnistapatyeṣa sūrya eṣa parjanyo maghavāneṣa vāyuḥ | eṣa pṛthivī rayirdevaḥ sadasaccāmṛtaṃ ca yat ||

"As fire he burns; he is the sun; he is the rain-cloud; he is Indra, the bountiful; he is the wind. He is the earth, matter, the god; he is being and non-being, and what is immortal."

Meaning today and context

Seen deeply, the life in us is the same life that burns in fire, shines in the sun and falls as rain. We are not separate from nature but one of its expressions.

Pippalāda's answer to Bhārgava continues: a hymn of praise to prāṇa, sung by the senses after they recognise it as their support. Prāṇa is every power of nature.
