"This prāṇa is born from the Self. As a shadow falls from a person, so this (prāṇa) is spread upon that (Self). It comes into this body through what the mind has done."
Meaning today and context
Our life and energy are like a shadow of something deeper: the Self. And the mind, through its desires and deeds, shapes the life we come into. What we think and do is not small.
Pippalāda's central answer to Kausalya: prāṇa is born from the Self, as a shadow from a person, and it enters a body through the workings of the mind.
