yathaiva bimbaṃ mṛdayopaliptaṃ tejomayaṃ bhrājate tatsudhāntam | tadvātmatattvaṃ prasamīkṣya dehī ekaḥ kṛtārtho bhavate vītaśokaḥ ||
Just as a mirror covered with clay shines brightly once it is well cleaned, so the embodied one, having seen the truth of the Self, becomes one, fulfilled and free from sorrow.
Meaning today and context
Your true nature is not something to be built; it is like a mirror under dust. Practice cleans what covers it, and with that comes a wholeness that sorrow cannot reach.
Shvetashvatara compares seeing the true Self to a metal mirror that shines again once the dust and clay are cleaned off.
