Shvetashvatara Upanishad 2.15

2.15 Upanishadic seer

yadātmatattvena tu brahmatattvaṃ dīpopameneha yuktaḥ prapaśyet | ajaṃ dhruvaṃ sarvatattvairviśuddhaṃ jñātvā devaṃ mucyate sarvapāśaiḥ ||

When the yogi here sees the truth of Brahman through the truth of the Self, as by a lamp, then, knowing the God who is unborn, unchanging and untouched by all the elements, he is released from all fetters.

Meaning today and context

Looking within is the lamp by which the greater reality is seen. What binds us loosens when we know what in us is unborn and unchanging.

Shvetashvatara says that the yogi who sees Brahman through the light of the Self, as by a lamp, is freed from every fetter.
