Shvetashvatara Upanishad 2.4

2.4 Upanishadic seer

yuñjate mana uta yuñjate dhiyo viprā viprasya bṛhato vipaścitaḥ | vi hotrā dadhe vayunāvideka inmahī devasya savituḥ pariṣṭutiḥ ||

The wise yoke the mind and yoke their thoughts to the great, wise, inspired one. He alone who knows the ways has ordered the offerings. Great is the praise of the god Savitṛ.

Meaning today and context

The wise do not only think hard; they direct their mind and thought toward something greater than themselves. That orientation gives practice its meaning.

The second chapter of the Upanishad, taught by the sage Shvetashvatara, opens with Vedic verses to Savitṛ, the impelling sun god, asking him to yoke the mind for meditation. It praises Savitṛ, before whom the wise yoke mind and thought.
