Shvetashvatara Upanishad 3.7

3.7 Upanishadic seer

tataḥ paraṃ brahma paraṃ bṛhantaṃ yathānikāyaṃ sarvabhūteṣu gūḍhaṃ | viśvasyaikaṃ pariveṣṭitāramīśaṃ taṃ jñātvāmṛtā bhavanti ||

Beyond this is the highest Brahman, the vast, hidden in all beings according to their bodies, the one who encompasses the whole universe, the Lord. Knowing him, people become immortal.

Meaning today and context

The highest is not far away; it is hidden in every being, in a form suited to each. Seeing that changes how we see ourselves and others.

In the third chapter Shvetashvatara praises the one Lord, Rudra (Śiva), as ruler of the worlds. He says that beyond all this is the highest Brahman, hidden in every being, and knowing that Lord brings immortality.
