4.21 Upanishadic seer to Rudra

ajāta ityevaṃ kaścidbhīruḥ prapadyate | rudra yatdakṣiṇaṃ mukhamtena māṃ pāhi nityam ||

'You are the unborn': thinking thus, someone who is afraid comes to you for refuge. Rudra, with that face of yours which is kind (the right, gracious face), protect me always.

Prayer can steady a frightened mind, but if you are in danger please call 112, and for overwhelming anxiety Tele-MANAS 14416.

Meaning today and context

It is all right to come to God simply because we are afraid. The verse gives words for that moment: I am frightened, I turn to you, protect me.

A personal prayer: thinking 'You are unborn', a frightened person takes refuge in Rudra and asks for protection through his gracious face.
