Shvetashvatara Upanishad 5.4

5.4 Upanishadic seer

sarvā diśa ūrdhvamadhaśca tiryakprakāśayanbhrājate yadvānaḍvān | evaṃ sa devo bhagavānvareṇyo yonisvabhāvānadhitiṣṭhatyekaḥ ||

As the sun shines, lighting up all the quarters, above, below and across, so that God, the blessed, the adorable, alone governs all sources and their inherent natures.

Meaning today and context

Like sunlight that falls on everyone, the divine presence does not pick favourites. Every nature, every temperament, is lit by the same source.

The sage compares God to the sun lighting every direction; in the same way He alone governs all sources and their natures.
