Having taught the Veda, the teacher instructs the student: Speak the truth. Practise dharma. Do not neglect your study. Having given the teacher the wealth he values, do not cut off the line of your descendants. Do not swerve from truth. Do not swerve from dharma. Do not neglect your well-being. Do not neglect prosperity. Do not neglect study and teaching.
'Do not cut off the line of descendants' reflects the householder ideal of its time; it is not pressure on anyone to marry or have children, and not having children is no failing.
