'That from which words turn back, together with the mind, not reaching it: one who knows that bliss of Brahman is never afraid.' This [self made of mind] is the embodied self of the former as well. Different from this self made of mind is another self within, made of understanding. By it this one is filled. It too has the shape of a person: following the person-shape of the former, this one has the shape of a person. Faith is its head, right order (ṛta) the right wing, truth the left wing, yoga the trunk, the great (mahas) the tail, the foundation. On this there is also a verse.

Meaning today and context

The deepest thing in us cannot be captured in words or thoughts, and knowing it frees us from fear. On the way there, what holds understanding together is faith, right conduct, truthfulness and steady practice.

Taittiriya 2.4.1: the verse on the mind-sheath, 'from which words turn back with the mind', then the fourth sheath, the self made of understanding (vijñāna), whose head is faith.
