He who is here in the person and he who is there in the sun: he is one. One who knows this, on departing from this world, reaches this self made of food, reaches this self made of breath, reaches this self made of mind, reaches this self made of understanding, reaches this self made of bliss. On this there is also a verse.
'Departing from this world' is about what the knower reaches, not an invitation to think about dying. If you are thinking about death or ending your life, please call Tele-MANAS 14416.
Meaning today and context
The light within us and the light that lights the world are the same. Seeing that, one moves past body, breath, mind and understanding to the joy at the centre, layer by layer.
Taittiriya 2.8.5: the conclusion of the inquiry into bliss: the one in the person and the one in the sun are one, and the knower passes inward through all five sheaths.
