Taittiriya Upanishad 1.4.3

1.4.3 Upanishadic seer

yaśo jane'sāni svāhā | śreyānvasyaso'sāni svāhā | taṃ tvā bhaga praviśāni svāhā | sa mā bhaga praviśa svāhā | tasminsahasraśākhe nibhagāhaṃ tvayi mṛje svāhā | yathāpaḥ pravatā yanti yathā māsā aharjaram | evaṃ māṃ brahmacāriṇaḥ | dhātarāyantu sarvataḥ svāhā | prativeśo'si pra mā bhāhi pra mā padyasva ||

May I be renowned among people, svāhā. May I be better than the wealthy, svāhā. May I enter into you, Gracious One, svāhā. Gracious One, may you enter into me, svāhā. In you of a thousand branches, Gracious One, I cleanse myself, svāhā. As waters flow downhill, as the months flow into the year that wears away the days, so, O Ordainer, may students come to me from every side, svāhā. You are a resting place: shine upon me, come to me fully.

Meaning today and context

The teacher's deepest wish is not wealth but to merge with the divine and be purified in it, and to have students come naturally, as water flows. Good work draws people the way a slope draws water.

Taittirīya 1.4.3 ends the teacher's prayer: for good name, for being better than the rich, for union with the gracious Lord (Bhaga), and for students to flow to him like water downhill.
