Om is Brahman. Om is all this. Om is assent; and when they say 'Let it be heard', the others recite. With Om they sing the Sāman chants. With 'Om śom' they recite the praise-hymns. With Om the Adhvaryu priest gives his response. With Om the Brahman priest gives his consent. With Om one permits the fire offering. A brahmin about to recite says Om, thinking, 'May I attain Brahman'; and he does attain Brahman.
