Uddhava Gita 1.13

1.13 Gods to Krishna

ketustrivikramayutastripatatpatāko | yaste bhayābhayakaro'suradevacamvoḥ | svargāya sādhuṣu khaleṣvitarāya bhūman | padaḥ punātu bhagavanbhajatāmaghaṃ naḥ ||

O infinite one, your foot became a banner in your three great strides, with the three-coursed Ganga as its flag; it brought fear to the army of demons and fearlessness to the army of gods, heaven to the good and the opposite to the wicked. Lord, may that foot purify us, your worshippers, of our sins.

Meaning today and context

The same divine presence feels like refuge to those who live well and like a threat to those who do harm. How we experience the sacred depends partly on how we live.

The gods recall the foot that strode across the worlds as Trivikrama (Vamana), with the Ganga as its banner, and pray it may purify them.
