Uddhava Gita 1.19

1.19 Gods to Krishna

vibhvyastavāmṛtakathodavahāstrilokyāḥ | pādāvanejasaritaḥ śamalāni hantum | ānuśravaṃ śrutibhiraṅghrijamaṅgasaṅgais | tīrthadvayaṃ śuciṣadasta upaspṛśanti ||

The rivers that carry the nectar of your stories and the rivers that flow from the washing of your feet are able to destroy the impurities of the three worlds. Those who seek purity resort to both these sacred waters: the one heard through the Vedas, by the ear, and the one born of your feet, by bathing the body.

Meaning today and context

Listening to sacred stories is put on a level with bathing in the Ganga. What we let into our ears can cleanse us as surely as a holy river.

The hymn ends: the stories of Krishna and the river that flows from his feet (the Ganga) are two sacred waters that cleanse the three worlds.
