Uddhava Gita 1.30

1.30 Krishna to Brahma

yadyasaṃhṛtya dṛptānāṃ yadūnāṃ vipulaṃ kulam | gantāsmyanena loko'yamudvelena vinaṅkṣyati ||

If I were to go without first withdrawing this vast family of arrogant Yadus, this world would be destroyed by them as they burst their bounds.

The destruction of the Yadu clan is sacred story about the end of Krishna's age. It is never a justification for harming anyone, including one's own family.

Meaning today and context

In the story, Krishna places the world's welfare above his attachment to his own kin. This is myth about the end of an age, not a model for how to treat one's family.

Krishna explains to Brahma why he must first withdraw the clan before departing.
